About reclaimed wood

At Sjælsø Living, we use reclaimed wood because the material already has a story. The wood originates from sources such as demolished buildings, old ships, and scaffolding in India, where it has acquired the texture and patina that characterize our furniture through many years of use.

The reclaimed wood consists of various types of hardwood – typically acacia, mango, and teak. Color shades, grain patterns, minor marks, and traces of previous use will therefore vary from piece to piece. This is a natural part of the material's character and means that every piece of furniture has its own unique expression.

By giving existing wood new life, we preserve the material's history and character – and use what already exists, rather than exclusively creating furniture from new wood.
