At Sjælsø Living, we love the idea of giving old materials a new life. We recycle wood, metal, glass, and textiles to create unique products—from tables and shelves to vases and cushions.

We have a special love for old wood. Wood that has stood the test of time—perhaps as part of a ship, scaffolding, or an abandoned house. The wear of time gives it a unique patina and character that cannot be replicated with new materials.

After the wood has been exposed to the Indian sun and rain, it takes on a beautiful grayish tone. This is where the real craftsmanship begins: our skilled suppliers hand-mix finishes and treatments so each piece achieves the perfect expression—whether dark, light, raw, or refined. Sometimes they even use tea leaves to bleach the wood and achieve the light Nordic tone we cherish so much.

Finding the right finish is an art in itself—and even harder is recreating it across different types of wood and products. That’s why color and texture may vary slightly from piece to piece. But that is exactly what makes each item unique. We believe it’s part of the charm.
