Materials with a Previous Life
Many of our furniture pieces are crafted from reclaimed wood sourced from old houses, doors, scaffolding and fishing boats across India.
Over decades, these materials have developed a richness, warmth and patina that new timber simply cannot replicate. Rather than hiding these marks, we celebrate them as part of each piece's story.
With respect for the material's history, skilled craftsmen carefully transform it into furniture and home décor designed to be enjoyed for many years to come.
Crafted by Hand
Many of our finishes are created entirely by hand using traditional layer-by-layer techniques that highlight the natural beauty and texture of the wood.
Because every piece of reclaimed wood has lived a different life, each one responds differently during the finishing process. As a result, no two surfaces are ever exactly alike.
Variations in colour, texture, small cracks, uneven surfaces and patina are not imperfections—they are a natural part of the material's history and what makes every piece truly unique.

Ofte stillede spørgsmål om genbrugstræ
Genbrugstræ er træ, der tidligere har været anvendt til et andet formål. Hos Sjælsø Living arbejder vi med forskellige sorter af hårdt træ, blandt andet teak, mango og akacie, som kan stamme fra gamle huse, døre, stilladser og fiskerbåde. Træet bearbejdes og får nyt liv i nye møbler og interiør.
Genbrugstræ er ikke en bestemt træsort, men en betegnelse for træ, der tidligere har været anvendt. Vi arbejder blandt andet med teak, mango og akacie. Træsorten fremgår af oplysningerne på det enkelte produkt.
Ikke nødvendigvis. Vores møbler i genbrugstræ er nye møbler fremstillet af træ, der tidligere har været anvendt. Vores Originale Fund er derimod eksisterende gamle møbler og interiør, som vi håndplukker og eventuelt nænsomt renoverer.
Genbrugstræ kan have naturlige variationer fra dets tidligere anvendelse, men det færdige udtryk afhænger også af bearbejdning og overfladebehandling. Hos Sjælsø Living vælger vi ofte behandlinger, hvor noget af træets struktur, patina og historie får lov til at være synlig.
